Education for Girls in Afghanistan Program

About Women for Change Inc. (WFC)

Women for Change Inc. (WFC) is a dynamic Australian non-profit association, proudly founded in 2019 and registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria. Comprising 67 dedicated Afghan women, we are a growing community committed to transforming the lives of Afghan women both in Afghanistan and Australia. Our core mission is to empower women through education, skills training, employment opportunities, and dedicated support to families facing extreme vulnerability in Australia and remote regions of Afghanistan. Our commitment is to drive impactful change, fostering resilience, and offering resources to build a brighter future for Afghan women in need.

Our Proven Track Record of Empowerment
Over the past three years, Women for Change has implemented successful, life-changing programs in the Waras District of Bamyan, Afghanistan, focused on uplifting girls, women, and their families. Our initiatives encompass skills training in traditional crafts such as carpet and felt weaving, educational tuition for young girls, and economic opportunities for widowed and disabled women to provide for their families. We further extend critical aid, including financial and food support, to impoverished families and those in urgent need of medical care. Here in Australia, our impact has been equally transformative. Since 2019, we’ve helped 82 Afghan women gain employment in fields spanning education, healthcare, food production, and childcare; connected 20 women with English classes through the Australian Hazara Women’s Friendship Network; and organized swimming and water safety courses in response to community safety needs. Our educational efforts, such as COVID-19 health awareness funded by the Victoria State Government, continue to strengthen community ties and ensure that Afghan women in Australia are empowered to thrive.

Championing Education for Afghan Girls
In Afghanistan, the current regime’s restrictions bar girls from accessing public education, plunging a generation into despair and isolation. In this challenging environment, Women for Change has taken action with our Education for Girls in Afghanistan Program, seizing an opportunity to establish private tutoring that is safe yet impactful. Working closely with Kabul’s school principals, we’re committed to employing qualified teachers to educate vulnerable girls in five key subjects, covering two daily shifts, five days a week. Each teacher’s salary is AUD $150 monthly, which not only sustains their families but enables secure travel to and from these tutoring sites. We invite you to support this critical mission by contributing $30 monthly or sponsoring a teacher with $150 monthly, helping us nurture hope, knowledge, and a future of possibility for Afghan girls.
